Skamstrup Maskinstation has added four SIP grassland harvesting machines to their fleet in recent years, and in fact, they test drive equipment for the Slovenians.

Skamstrup Maskinstation has in recent years added four SIP grassland machines to their machine park, and in fact the machine station is testing equipment for the Slovenians.
At the Varde-based machine station, Skamstrup Maskinstation, they handle many tasks related to grass production. As the order book has grown, the machine station has added a number of SIP mowers to their machine list in recent years, after they bought their first SIP mower through Wekoagro Machinery in 2020, Wekoagro writes in a press release.

“Over the years we have purchased many machines from Wekoagro Machinery, including a SIP mower, two SIP rotary tedders and a SIP rotary rake. We have been doing business with them since 2005 and we have always been happy with them. They are a serious partner who always helps us find the right equipment for us,” says Torben Kamp, owner of Skamstrup Maskinstation.

According to Wekoagro, the reason why Skamstrup Maskinstation repeatedly chooses SIP machines is due to their high quality and low operating costs. This makes them particularly sought-after machines: “Our SIP machines are of high quality. I usually say that you can judge the quality of a machine by what we have bought in spare parts, and that is very limited. So that tells you that it hasn’t been completely crazy,” says Torben Kamp.

Test driver for manufacturer

Skamstrup Maskinstation has been around for more than 50 years and is one of the major players on the market. They can present a serious machine list, including over 41 tractors, 4 straw choppers, 2 combine harvesters and all imaginable equipment for modern agriculture. That’s why Skamstrup Maskinstation is also a natural choice when the Slovenian grassland harvesting machinery manufacturer, SIP, has to test their new machines.
“In 2019 we tested their SIP SILVERCUT mower. It was still a prototype when we had to test it, and we had suggestions for some changes to which they were very responsive. We experienced seriousness about our input and demand, and we were very happy with the collaboration. We also ended up buying a mower for the machine station,” says Torben Kamp.
Since the first test run of the SIP SILVERCUT DISC 1500 T (15 metres), several SIP grassland machines have been tested at Skamstrup Maskinstation and subsequently added to the fleet, which today includes the two rotary tedders SIP SPIDER 1100|10 T (11 metres) and SIP SPIDER 1500|14 T (15 metres) as well as the rotary rake SIP STAR 1000|30 T (10 metres).

“We think it’s a good piece of equipment that is sensibly put together. On the rotary tedder, we like the fact that the fingers – or Hook Tines, as they call them – are specially designed as hooks, which means that it throws the wet grass on top of the dry grass for more even drying. Their machines also have a lot of adjustment options, so we can make them run the way we want them to,” says Torben Kamp.

Customising machines

At Wekoagro Machinery in Hoven they recognise SIP’s great willingness to cooperate. As the exclusive distributor of SIP in Denmark, they see it as a great advantage and a crucial factor for the cooperation that the Slovenian manufacturer SIP is responsive to their customers’ needs.

SIP listens to us and our customers. For example, we told them about our need for a butterfly mower solution with conditioner and belt conveyor – and they took it on board right away. Since then, we have run tests on 10.2 meter mower DISC HD 1000 D FS mounted with both conditioners and belt conveyors, and now it is part of the product portfolio and is already sold out for this year,” says John Kristensen, product specialist for SIP grassland machinery at Wekoagro Machinery, and continues:

“Many of the brands we have in the house, including SIP, see us as serious partners, and therefore it’s often not far from us asking to look at new solutions to them testing and phasing them into production. And we see that as a huge strength.”
