This year, the “Salon de l’herbe et des fourrages” again showcased a number of innovations in grassland harvesting, forage production and livestock management. A large venue near Poussay in the Grand Est region of north-eastern France hosted two days of presentations and demonstrations of grassland harvesting machines from different manufacturers. Fortunately, a light breeze provided refreshment on two very hot days and many visitors were interested to see the machines and the activities taking place on the 40-hectare stage.
The French and Slovenian SIP teams presented a wide range of machines, among which the novelties stood out during the demonstration. The grass-clover mix was mown with the DISC HD 1000 D FS, a new-generation belt mower equipped with a steel finger conditioner in combination with a SILVERCUT DISC 340 F FSC front mower. The SPIDER 915|8 tedder, with a 9 m working width and curved spring tines, did the forage spreading, followed by the new STAR 860|26 TS side delivery rake. One of the most interesting machines for dairy farmers was, of course, the AIR 900 T pick-up rake designed to produce clean, high-quality forage and to minimise harvest losses, especially in connection with alfalfa and clover.
